A mama Yorkie recently took in a newborn kitten, who was left without a mom, as part of her own litter of puppies.

Lucero Hernandez Vil from California shared the heartwarming details on TikTok on April 6.

In the clip, she joked about how her dog recently had a kitten.

It turns out that the kitten’s mom was scared away by dogs and the poor little one was left behind.

At the start of the video, we can see the tiny kitten laying around with three Yorkie puppies. In the next shot, we can see a human hand holding the little one while the mama Yorkie props up her legs excitedly and wags her tail in anticipation as she looks on.

The small pup has grown to love her adopted kid so much that she even grooms her like a cat mom would do!

The kitten has also grown used to laying around and nursing with her new puppy siblings.

Lucero was initially worried that the poor kitten might not make it through the night, since she observed that she started becoming “less active” in the evening.

Fortunately, she made it through.

The video received nearly 20 million views and several confused inquiries as to how a dog gave birth to a kitten, resulting in a video that clarified — or further joked about — the situation.

In that video update on April 8, the kitten’s foster mom can be seen grooming her.

Earlier this week, Lucero said that the kitten has been doing “fine” but is no longer under their care.

This Mama Yorkie is further proof that motherhood transcends species!
