  • He overcame a 100,000 to 1 odds at Overstone Park using a unique self-developed technique.
  • Golf became a source of hope and community for Patrick after a life-changing accident.

Irish golfer Patrick Duke accomplished an extraordinary feat by sinking a hole-in-one with only one arm, overcoming incredible odds. After a workplace accident in 2012, Duke learned to play the game from scratch, relying on his resilience and determination.

He achieved this milestone on the fourth hole at Overstone Park in Northamptonshire while playing with friends, using a seven iron on the 120-yard par-3.

“I’m not very good at golf, but it’s saved my life,” Pat shared.

Duke tailored his technique after encouragement from a professional coach, adapting his game in a way that worked just for him. He once struggled with this particular hole but decided to aim directly for the flag, leading to his first ever ace.

Pat recalled the electric moment, noting how the ball landed just past the hole and spun back in, as bystanders cheered and his friend celebrated with him on the green.

He has always been active, having played multiple sports before his accident. After struggling with depression and a loss of confidence, Duke discovered both hope and a sense of belonging at his local golf club.

“Golf gave me confidence, friendship, and the will to live,” Pat reflected.
