Summer Kansiray, a 15-year-old from Bridgend, has undergone 49 operations since being diagnosed with kidney cancer at just 14 months old.
Despite the challenges, she uses her experiences to help other ill youngsters and was honored with the Child of Courage 13+ award at the Children of Wales Awards.
Summer remains positive and says, “It’s important to inspire others that no matter how bad it gets there is always hope.”
The awards organizers describe her as “an exceptionally brave young woman” who “has always remained positive.”
