In a remarkable display of endurance and spirit, 71-year-old Mike Rogers from Lubbock, Texas, achieved an extraordinary milestone.

He took on the Great World Race, completing seven marathons across seven continents within a single week.

Rogers began his incredible journey on the icy glaciers of Wolf’s Fang, Antarctica, where he braved extremely low temperatures.

From there, he continued to Cape Town, South Africa; Perth, Australia; and Istanbul, Turkey.

In Istanbul, he faced the daunting challenge of running nearly 30 miles through the night under a relentless downpour of freezing rain.

Despite suffering from blisters and black toenails, Rogers remained upbeat about the experience.

He acknowledged that some thought he was “crazy” for undertaking such a monumental task, but he was simply thrilled to have enjoyed himself.

His journey continued through the Asian side of Istanbul and Cartagena, Colombia, before concluding in Miami, Florida.

Along the way, Rogers made “sweet friends” and expressed hope that his efforts helped raise funds for various charities.

Upon returning to Lubbock, he was greeted by family and friends who celebrated his achievement.

“It was wonderful to have that kind of support and those kind of prayers. I needed their prayers to carry me through some of those tough moments during the runs,” he shared.

The seasoned runner’s adventure was followed by many on social media, where he received an outpouring of admiration.

One follower dubbed him “Amazing Mike!!!” while another congratulated him with, “Huge congratulations, Mike! On to the next! Safe travels to your next destination!”

Previously pre-diabetic, Rogers has since taken charge of his health, finding that running keeps him feeling his best.

To prepare for the Great World Race, he ran approximately 15 to 20 miles several times a week.

He now encourages others to embrace challenges and prioritize their health, emphasizing patience.

“You don’t have to do it fast. You can do it at an easier pace. I know people that can walk 26 miles. You just have to be patient,” he advised.
