Chelsea Handler knows how to celebrate her birthday in style. The comedian recently marked her 49th year with a memorable ski trip, complete with a bikini, her dogs, and a joint.

In a video shared on Instagram, Handler is seen joyfully skiing down a hill in a blue bikini and striped hat, ski goggles resting on her forehead. In one hand, she held a drink, and in the other, a cigarette. Handler, who has previously spoken about quitting tobacco and her fondness for cannabis, did not specify what she was smoking.

Adding to the fun, Handler’s dog, sporting pink ski goggles, was carried in a backpack. As the video progressed, another of her dogs, a chow chow named Doug, frolicked behind her down the slope. Handler later put down her joint and drink to pick up Doug, and they continued their descent together.

When Handler finally came to a halt, she flashed a radiant smile at the camera. “Multi-tasking on my 49th!” she captioned the post, which was set to a remix of the Bee Gee’s “Stayin’ Alive” and 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.”

Handler’s unconventional birthday celebration did not go unnoticed. Several celebrities were quick to send their well wishes to the comedian. “That’s some high frequency s–t,” wrote Kaitlyn Bristowe, while Naomi Watts added, “You made me laugh out loud along with warming my heart. You are the best!! Happy happy birthday. Love you.”

This unique birthday tradition is not new for Handler. She celebrated her 48th birthday in a similar fashion, skiing in a bikini and pausing by trees to seemingly smoke a joint.

The year prior, Handler skied in bathing suit bottoms, using miniature Canadian and American flags to cover her chest. Larger versions of the flags adorned her helmet. She also wore the Philippines flag on her back, with the words “Koy” written across in honor of then-boyfriend Jo Koy.

In 2021, Handler marked her 46th birthday by skiing topless down the slopes, wearing royal blue underwear and again showing her support for both Canada and the United States.

“It’s important to stay hydrated as well as relaxed, and it’s also important to celebrate your body no matter what age or size,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “This is 46 (with some peptides) and as I transition into a mountain woman I want to give a big shout out to the two countries I have the strongest ties to.”

Handler concluded, “America could learn a lot from Canada and Canada has learned a lot from America, and I’m learning that no matter what country I’m in, I like to take my clothes off and smile.”
