Meet Michael Mehler, a German man who turned his life around after a shock health diagnosis.

In a remarkable transformation, Michael Mehler, once weighing 586lbs and feeling trapped in his own body, has shed a staggering 350lbs after a health scare pushed him to make a change.

The 38-year-old German, who struggled with mobility and isolation, embarked on a three-year journey that led to a healthier and happier life.

“When I was big, I ate six to eight bread rolls for breakfast with marmalade, Nutella, and typically German cold cuts.

“My lunch included two pizzas and a doner kebab, then in the evening I ate four to six burgers from a fast-food chain,” Mehler confessed, highlighting the drastic changes he made to his diet that contributed to his weight loss.

Facing the consequences of his weight, Mehler realized the urgent need for change.

“I couldn’t walk a yard without losing my breath and getting sweaty. It was a truly horrible experience.

“I felt trapped in my own body and in my home, and because of that, I no longer had a social life. I wasn’t living a good, happy life.”

Mehler’s weight loss journey began with bariatric sleeve surgery, which reduced his stomach capacity by 80%. Though the initial results were promising, a sudden halt in weight loss prompted medical investigations.

Mehler explained, “After that, I had a blood test done and they realized that my testosterone was almost zero, but prolactin was 198, and my estrogen was at 70.”

The discovery of a pituitary gland tumor shed light on the hormone imbalances that were affecting Mehler’s well-being.

Grateful for the timely intervention, Mehler shared, “The hormone levels meant I wasn’t losing any weight, so if the tumor hadn’t been found, I would have inevitably gained more weight and died.

“It was treated with Cabergolin tablets, and it’s now checked once a year.”

Armed with renewed determination, Mehler embraced a rigorous fitness routine, spending hours at the gym, both weight training and doing cardio exercises.

“At the start, I did a weight training routine for two hours a day, and then one or two hours of cardio after,” he shared.

The results soon became evident, motivating Mehler to persist on his weight loss journey.

Mehler’s dedication extended beyond exercise. He made substantial changes to his diet, opting for smaller portion sizes and adopting a vegan lifestyle.

“My blood test results also made me want to start a vegan diet,” he explained, emphasizing the importance of mindful eating and paying attention to his body’s nutritional needs.

Despite losing an incredible eight shirt sizes and experiencing significant improvements in his well-being, Mehler acknowledges that his transformation is a work in progress.

“I’m still not totally happy with my body image because I haven’t finished my transformation yet,” he confessed.

His next step involves skin removal surgery, a testament to his unwavering commitment to his health and self-improvement.

Through his social media platform, @fromsupersizetosuperfit, Mehler aims to inspire others facing similar challenges.

He shares, “I want to motivate people who find themselves in the same position as me. I want to inspire people and show that anything is possible if you believe in yourself.”

Michael Mehler’s incredible weight loss journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of perseverance and self-belief.

His story reminds us that with determination and a commitment to our well-being, we can overcome even the most daunting obstacles.

So let’s celebrate Mehler’s accomplishments, draw inspiration from his journey, and embrace positive change in our own lives.
