A rescue dog in New Jersey saved her owner’s life last week by dragging him to his cellphone after he collapsed during a stroke. Sadie, the loyal dog, didn’t leave her owner’s side until help arrived, according to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, the dog’s former animal shelter.

Brian, Sadie’s owner, was home alone with the 6-year-old German shepherd when he fell to the ground and couldn’t move, according to the animal shelter’s touching Facebook post.

Sadie licked Brian’s face then pulled him to his cellphone so he can call for help, Ramapo-Bergen wrote in the post.

“While he was collapsed, Sadie never left his side. She licked his face to keep him awake, and helped drag him across the room to his cell phone. Sadie was the only reason that Brian was able to call for help,” the Oakland-based shelter wrote.

Brian’s family is taking care of Sadie for now while he is recovering at a rehab facility, the shelter wrote. The loyal dog sees Brian almost every night via video chat.

“Brian gave Sadie a second chance at life, adopting Sadie and welcoming her home,” the shelter said in the post. “This time, Sadie gave Brian a second chance at life.”
