  • A stray cat finds a home and brings a surprise bundle of joy.
  • A man’s life changes as he becomes a proud cat dad to eight.
  • A viral TikTok story leads to a unique cat product review show.

When a pregnant stray cat wandered into Chris Thomas’s backyard in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his life took an unexpected turn, transforming him into a devoted cat dad to eight adorable kittens.

The stray, now affectionately named Frances, found her way into Chris’s yard through a gap in the fence, seeking a safe haven.

Winning her trust wasn’t an easy task.

“She was very feral and scared of humans, but I fed her every day for a while and slowly gained her trust. Taking care of her is the only thing that got me out of bed for a while,” Chris shared in a TikTok post that quickly went viral.

One evening, Frances appeared with a bloodied ear, prompting Chris to bring her inside for safety.

“A day later she gave birth in my basement. The plan was to adopt all of them to good families, but they were all so bonded that I couldn’t bring myself to separate them. So now I’m a cat dad of eight. She saved me just as much as I saved her.”

Chris never envisioned himself as a cat dad to eight, but the experience has been life-changing.

“I also never planned on doing what we now do…hosting a cat product review show on Amazon. It’s called Cool Cat Stuff with Frances and Family,” Chris explained.

After losing his job, Chris embraced this new venture, allowing him to stay home with his feline family while seeking support through the show.

Befriending a feral cat is no small feat.

According to the British animal charity Blue Cross, such cats are often wary of humans due to a lack of socialization and typically avoid human contact.

Feral cats are often identified by a tipped ear, indicating they’ve been neutered or spayed before being returned to the outdoors.

In the U.S., it’s estimated there are between 60 million and 100 million feral cats, many of which are descendants of lost or abandoned house cats.

Now, Chris and his feline crew collaborate with various cat product companies, enjoying an array of gadgets for both cats and their owners.

They are also working on launching a “fleet of free mobile vets” to support community outreach efforts.
