Search for missing dog ends up with family having two identical dogs

José Eduardo Millani Ramos and his dog Ikki have made it their morning routine to go out for walks near their home in Brazil. José has been used to the pup trailing behind, but one day, Ikki went missing.

José and his family searched for him and enlisted the help of others, but they didn’t find any clues.

He shared, “I felt terrible when he disappeared. It felt like part of me had been taken away. I needed to know what happened to him.”

Two days later, José spotted an online post about a lost dog.

When he recognized the rescued dog’s spots, he drove to reunite with his beloved Ikki.

Fortunately, the pup was in good health.

José shared, “I called out his name, and he ran to me. He wouldn’t stop licking me. He kissed me. We played. I felt complete again.”

José didn’t think anything was off since the pup was his usual cheerful and loving self.

It was only after a few days that he noticed that the pup seemed to have a slightly different set of spots.

Was the dog he brought home really Ikki?

Recalling Ikki’s spot pattern, he decided to compare photos of the two.

That’s when he realized that he had brought home an imposter!

He and his family were surprised, but they had grown to love the “imposter” dog.

They decided to keep him and name him Paolo.

Meanwhile, José had to resume his search for Ikki, who was still missing.

Thankfully, he spotted a post that showed another dog resembling Ikki.

Once again, José drove to pick up a lost dog.

This time, the spots were a perfect match.

He and Ikki were finally reunited!

It was a rollercoaster ride, but José and his family ended up being blessed with twice the love.

“We decided to keep the imposter,” José shared. “Paolo had been a homeless dog, but now he makes everything feel more complete. He’s not to blame. He deserves a home, too.”

Ikki bore no ill will toward his imposter. They even got along instantly, as if they have always known each other.

José and his family ended up getting a second dog, and Ikki and Paolo gained a new friend.

“I am lucky to have them. It was a mistake that ended very well,” José shared.
