Cartoon Classic Tom and Jerry Just Got A Real-Life Revival With Mouse Outsmarting Cats [Video]

  • A TikTok video has viewers recalling the classic, never-ending pursuit between Tom the cat and sneaky mouse Jerry.
  • In the video, the mouse runs circles not only around Cleopatra the cat but also around a group of kittens.
  • Viewers are now abuzz if the cat can ever catch the mouse, because the young ones seem to be scared of the mouse.

The cartoon Tom and Jerry has been delighting audiences for generations since it was created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in 1940. The enduring slapstick comedy duo of a cat trying his darndest to capture the smart mouse just appeals to a huge audience across ages.

In modern internet times where videos on TikTok go viral, pet owner Nina Boyd disproves that cats have the advantage over their mice rivals.

In the video clip with the caption “This some Tom and Jerry type s***,” Nina’s cat, Cleopatra, is seen trying to catch a large stray mouse to no avail. It is making the feline bewildered!

To add insult to injury, it is not just Cleopatra who is having a hard time pursuing the mouse — but also several kittens who appear to be frightened of the rodent. It is just running rings around the muddled felines!

Curatorial and Collections Assistant at the Grant Museum of Zoology Chris Hughes said that there is a reason why cats play with their food like mice.

Hughes explained, “The act of cats ‘playing’ with their food is so that they can hone their hunting skills.”  He added, “Playing’ is seen more in indoor domestic cats as they have not had to learn to hunt from their mothers, who would normally teach their kittens to hunt as early as 6 weeks old.”

We can see in the video that Cleopatra is failing at the task.

Viewers cannot help but leave comments. TikTok user DeeDee1913 wrote, “think your cats are broken,” while user a_x.x_p joked: “the mouse is chasing them.”

Commenter Niknak687 said in jest: “Have you tried switching them off and on again I think they are broken?” Reeeeeeeeee.eee commented: “Looks like they made a new friend.”

It seems that the real-life Tom and Jerry duo should get more chasing practice to keep the cat and mouse rivalry going.
