Excited Golden Retriever Accidentally Pulls Fire Alarm at Daycare

Published

on

  • An excited dog named Birdie jumped up and down while being led to the crazy room of Dogwoods Lodge.
  • The action triggered the fire alarm to sound, prompting the fire department to rush to the facility.
  • Firefighters classified it as a false alarm and said that on the other hand, it made them conduct an inspection and fire drill earlier than their regular schedule.

Yes, Birdie the Golden Retriever’s energy was that intense, the fire alarm sounded.

How did that happen?

The Dogwoods Lodge divides dogs into categories.  There is a “crazy room” and a “lazy room”.  The moment that 2-year-old Birdie arrived at the daycare she was led to the “crazy room” where the energetic pups would play.  The lazy room is definitely not for the excited dog. In her thrill to be at the lodge, Birdie enthusiastically jumped up and down which set the fire alarm!

Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department personnel immediately responded to the alarm.  But firefighter Nick Pearson said, “Just a false alarm, it happens sometimes. We are happy to go there and see dogs once in a while, so it’s OK.”

But Birdie felt bad at what she triggered even if the firefighters understood. One parent posted an Instagram photo of her sorry face with an apology sign addressed to the Fire Department: “I’m sorry I pulled the fire alarm today.”

You think she needed to do that when the alarm prompted an impromptu fire inspection and drill? It even made the day for the firefighters to visit the doggy daycare. Add to that, they found out that the Dogwoods needed covers for their fire alarms! They wouldn’t have ordered the covers had the department checked on them sooner than their regular inspection.

Birdie, in fact, rendered a service.
