Good Samaritan Gathered Up a Scattered Family Treasure to Return to its Owner

  • Javier Folgar visited his parents’ house to fetch the scrapbook that his mom made for him.
  • But he accidentally drove off with the scrapbook on top of his car and the pages were scattered all over a busy road.
  • Fortunately, a good Samaritan took the time to gather up the pages and return the family treasure to his parents.

When a family treasure was scattered and thought to be lost, a good Samaritan picked up the pieces and had them returned.

Javier Folgar’s business, which makes invigorating bubble bath products, was approaching its first anniversary, so he planned to create a blog post showcasing the past year’s highlights.

Luckily, his mom, Carmen, had gifted him such a scrapbook last Christmas, when TOA Waters was just a few months old.

Javier said, “Let me tell you, this scrapbook meant the world to me! Not only was it magnificently laid out, but it was also designed by my mother. It’s something that she spent hours of her time piecing together.”

Carmen then held on to the scrapbook to add more memories as the year went by, planning to return it for the company’s first anniversary at the end of September 2021.

So, a few weeks ago, Javier drove from his Frederick, Maryland home to his mother’s home in Wayne, New Jersey, to get the book.

As he was packing up for the drive back home, he carefully placed the scrapbook on top of his car to avoid getting damaged by his luggage.

But he completely forgot about it — and he drove off while the scrapbook was on top of his car!

It was only when he checked his phone for emails at a fuel stop that he realized what had happened.

A woman wrote to him saying that “she found a scrapbook scattered across Valley Road. She wasn’t sure if it was mine, but she decided to reach out and give it a shot in case she could find the owner.”

The good Samaritan, Alyssa Fiorellini, did her best to gather up the pages and even returned them to his parents’ house.

There were still five missing pages, so Carmen and her husband decided to search as well and found three.

“We were still missing my mother’s favorite page. It was a photo of her with a white bow on it. At that point, we thought it was lost forever,” Javier shared.

But after about an hour, Alyssa’s mother came by. She said that she decided to look around too when she heard the story from her daughter.

She brought them the cherished page!

“I am still in awe of the kindness shown by these two ladies,” Javier shared. “I can’t believe a mother and daughter would go out of their way to return these precious memories to us—people they have never met before.”

Javier was also touched that his parents took the time to search for the missing pieces after his mistake. He said that his mom even offered to remake the scrapbook.
