  • He and Mayfair fell deeply in love, got married, and are now expecting a child together.
  • The interabled couple are now sharing their day-to-day life to help people overcome biases and destigmatize interabled relationships.

Winston Clements of London, England, was born with osteogenesis imperfecta (OI), or brittle bone disease. Having bones that are extremely fragile, he has endured 200 fractures in his 34 years. Now, he works as a cultural specialist and a motivational speaker who focuses on normalizing people of all abilities.

He has also given two TED talks about breaking the stigma of disability. His well-known personal mantra is, “Your limitations are an illusion.”

He met Mayfair, a fellow entrepreneur, two years ago. He then suggested starting a group together to help others who were struggling to launch their dream businesses. The two eventually fell in love over the next few months.

Mayfair shared, “Winston is one of those guys — to know Winston up close is to love him, but it was the evening after we ran our first mastermind event that I realized I was ‘in’ love with him.”

Nine months into dating, Winston proposed, and Mayfair excitedly said yes!

Their wedding was a happy occasion filled with love.

Their beautiful wedding photos went viral.

Mayfair shared that they found it “pretty cool” to see such support, but added that they also wondered why so many people were fascinated by their story. Most comments were kind while some were not.

So the couple decided to spread awareness about interabled relationships. They launched a YouTube channel to document their daily lives to normalize their relationship and bust common myths about interabled couples.

Mayfair and Winston hope that their videos will show how not all relationships look the same — love is the most important thing, after all.

The couple is now about to embark on a new chapter — they’re having a baby! It has made them more excited and determined to show people that it’s what’s inside that counts.

Mayfair shared, “My hope for representation is that the world that our children and our grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up in, it’s just normalized. Like, whoever they want to be with, they can feel fully confident to step out into the world.”

By sharing their days together, they help shine a light on other interabled couples. Love really is the most important thing when it comes to relationships.
