  • A TikTok video of @merlinragdoll has gone viral with more than 19 million views as it shows opposite expressions of two Ragdoll siblings.
  • One cat named Merlin has a permanent scowl on his face while the other cat named Ivy is the cheery and angelic one.
  • Their opposite emotional expressions have provided laughter for the viewers who compared them to Beauty and the Beast and Wednesday and Enid, to name a few.

Looking at the two Ragdoll cats’ opposite emotional expressions would certainly make you see a happy and an angry face with just one of their videos on TikTok under @merlinragdoll.

In one video clip posted by their mom, Hailey Ward, white fluffy Ivy looks cheerful while gray-furred Merlin is scowling and definitely glaring at the camera.  The caption reads: I feel like they could be Disney characters?

What follows is a series of how contrasting the two cats appear: Ivy is seen happily plopping on the rug while Merlin looks on and then fast cut-to-cuts of Mervin’s angry face and Ivy’s angelic ones.

There’s Merlin frowning from where he is standing while Ivy sits demurely. And then Merlin is shown in a Dracula costume looking so in character while Ivy is dressed as a sweet bumblebee.

Contrary to Merlin’s facial expression, ragdolls are described by the Cat Fanciers’ Association as “docile, placid and affectionate.”  Their trademarks are their blue eyes and semi-long coats that come in a variety of fur patterns and colors.

Californian Ann Baker is credited for successfully breeding ragdolls in the 1960s.

Veterinarian Joanna Woodnutt of the Veterinary Content Company said that ragdolls rank second in the world’s friendliest cat breeds no matter how wide-ranging cats’ personalities are.

She said, “All cats are individuals, and their personalities vary hugely from overly friendly to standoffish.” She added that how a cat is reared can make a big difference on how friendly they can be.

And Merlin and Ivy are examples of how even within a breed, personalities vary.  As Amanda Danneker commented: “Beauty and the Beast” while Vanessa Sikora said, “the princess and the evil queen.”

“You literally have the good on one side and the devil on the other,” drod added and aves wrote: “Me and my two personalities.”.

Wednesday Addams and Enid Sinclair are what comes to Stephanie’s mind when she sees the two cats while TaylorAliotti sees Merlin as the grumpy department head Ron Swanson in Parks and Recreation.

Diego Pimentel said “Merlin is mad at life,” while “The white cat is prettier than me,” woes Bamry.

No matter how opposite the two may seem in their expressions, one commenter named Nate summarizes the pair as they “complete each other.”

And when you look at the last clip on the video, Merlin and Ivy are good together no matter how different they may be.
