St. Patrick’s Day Adoption Event Unites 18 Kids with Forever Homes

St. Patrick’s Day was a day of joy and luck for many families in Jacksonville, Florida, as they welcomed new members into their homes. The occasion was the first-ever “Shamrock Adoption Celebration,” organized by Family Support Services, and it was a resounding triumph!

A total of 18 children found their forever homes through the program. Some of these children were fortunate enough to be adopted alongside their siblings, maintaining those precious familial bonds.

To add to the festive spirit of St. Patrick’s Day, many of the hopeful parents arrived decked out in green. The children were delighted with pots of “gold,” which were, in fact, filled with delicious chocolate treats.

Among the new families formed during the Shamrock Adoption Celebration were Heather and Rita Symons-Hall, who adopted five children. They shared their adoption journey, offering words of encouragement to other parents considering adoption.

“Hold on and have patience,” they advised.

“The child might be ready for adoption, but emotionally, it’s an emotional roller coaster for them,” one of the new moms shared. “It’s an emotional roller coaster for yourself.”

Despite the emotional challenges, she reassured families that “there’s always light at the end of the tunnel.”

The St. Patrick’s Day event was not just a celebration of new families, but also a significant achievement for Family Support Services. The event helped the organization surpass their adoption goals for the year.
