This Sneaky Cat Thinks he has Mastered Fridge Raiding

• Carrot the cat loves his sneaky antics — he loves playing his games of surprise.
• His new hobby is sneaking in his paw through the gap in the door whenever the fridge opens — and he thinks he’s getting away with it!
• But his mom knows — and has put up a huge sign that reminds them to look out for his paw before closing the fridge.

Meet Carrot. He is one sneaky cat, and his family knows it.

Rachel Zardus had rescued Carrot back when he was just a kitten.

“Carrot has definitely always been a sneak! He is a rambunctious and mischievous little guy,” Rachel told The Dodo.

He always seems to be lurking in places where you least expect him.

“He’s always doing sneaky stuff,” said Rachel. “Hiding in his tunnel, jumping out at us as we walk through the apartment, playing tag and hide-and-seek — all are some of his favorite games.”

Carrot has another favorite sneaky game: fridge raiding.

Whenever the fridge opens, Carrot would sneak in his paw through the crack in the door!

Thankfully, Carrot’s paw was not accidentally squished by the closing fridge door. Rachel quickly caught onto his scheme.

She and her boyfriend always checked if Carrot’s paw was out of the way before they closed the fridge door. It doesn’t hurt to have a constant reminder, though.

So they put up a huge sign to look out for cat paws:

There have been zero casualties since.

And Carrot seems to believe that his family has not yet caught on to his sneaky fridge antics.

Rachel shared, “We pretty much know he’s going to because he is in the kitchen with us and in play mode. He’s reaching for us to play. It’s a game to him.”

Carrot’s paw surprise might soon come to an end, though.

Rachel is considering a long-term solution that will permanently seal the gap in the door. This will ensure no accidents, especially for guests who are unfamiliar with Carrot’s sneaky scheme.

But before that happens, they’re gonna let Carrot enjoy his games and think he’s getting away with it.
