Making a good first impression with a cat can be difficult. While some cats tend to be friendly with a human right away, most encounters can end up unpleasantly. Friendly cats will allow you to pet them and would even show you their belly. Meanwhile, less friendly cats could hiss and scratch. Then again, there are some cats who would simply stare at you and judge.

A TikTok user, who goes by the handle @bennynazareth, shared his encounter with a neighbor’s cat. He was simply hanging out on the balcony of his home in Milan, Italy, when he noticed someone staring at him.

He had no idea what the cat was thinking, but it definitely felt awkward.

It seemed like the cat was just peacefully soaking up the sun, like him, when she noticed someone else next door.

Perhaps they both felt like their blissful moment was interrupted by some stranger and now they can’t help but stare at each other, not knowing what to do!

It’s particularly funny that @bennynazareth joked about the cat being “a stalker,” when he was the one who started filming their encounter.

The cat’s unmoving stare was most likely her way of telling a stranger to stop ruining her moment, but the man just didn’t take the hint.

Nevertheless, we’re hoping that some sort of friendship could still blossom in spite of all this icy awkwardness. It’s either that or @bennynazareth would just have to pack up and move somewhere else!
