As a parent, it’s a common wish to have an extra pair of eyes to keep a watchful gaze over your little ones. For Tina Meeks, a mother from Virginia, her Doberman, Cinnamon, seems to have taken up that role quite seriously.

Tina shared a video on TikTok under the handle @herlifesparkles. The clip featured her 11-month-old daughter, Mila, attempting to open a door leading to a balcony.

“Cinnamon pretty much follows Mila through the house now that she’s crawling and exploring more,” Meeks shared.

The video, which has since amassed a whopping 15.5 million views, shows Cinnamon patiently observing Mila from her bed. When Mila manages to open the door and crawl outside, Cinnamon, without missing a beat, springs into action, positioning herself protectively in front of the baby.

“She’s sick of me. Looking back like ‘lady, if you don’t come get your baby!’” Meeks humorously captioned the post.

“Cinnamon lays near her whenever she’s napping and makes sure we notice her if she starts crying. Mila adores her, too. Cinnamon has a plush bed in our family room, and they both sit on it together like a mini couch and hang out,” Meeks further shared.

Despite the American Kennel Club stating that female Dobermans can stand between 24 and 26 inches tall and weigh up to 90 pounds, Meeks has faced criticism about having such a large breed around her baby.

“I think lots of people are weird about babies near dogs in general, but most wouldn’t go near a Doberman themselves,” she said. “Especially when you consider how they are portrayed on film and TV. However, they are great family pets, and Cinnamon is a gentle giant.”

“She loves our family, especially the kids. She was only 3 months old when Mila was born, so they’ve pretty much grown up together over the last year,” Meeks added.

This isn’t the first time a protective pooch has captured the internet’s attention. Dogs have shown time and again that they can be caring protectors, much like the retriever that refused to leave a sick baby’s side.
