Sneaky Hound Dog’s Cuddle-for-Food Antics Go Viral

Quick Smiles:

  • A hound dog named Homer has perfected the art of pretending to snuggle, all with the aim of getting closer to a plate of food.
  • Despite his sneaky tactics, Homer is a well-behaved dog who doesn’t actually steal food, but rather enjoys the cuddle party.
  • Homer’s hilarious antics have gone viral on TikTok, garnering over 3.4 million views, 533,200 likes, and 1,005 comments.

Many pet owners might believe that their dogs cuddle out of affection, but sometimes, there’s a more strategic reason behind these cozy moments. A hound dog named Homer has become quite the expert at this.

In the video, shared by the account @homer_the_hounddog, Homer appears to be innocently cuddling up to two children on a couch. But a closer inspection reveals that he’s subtly inching his way towards a plate of food left nearby.

Homer cleverly chose to snuggle up to the younger child, while the older sibling watched on, amused by his antics. As the owner pointed out, “it’s the oldest trick in the book.”

The family is well-accustomed to Homer’s playful behavior. “Homer will try getting food daily,” the owner told Newsweek via TikTok. This isn’t surprising, considering hounds are known to be particularly food-motivated.

But don’t be mistaken, Homer genuinely enjoys the cuddles. The video shows him visibly relaxing as the children pet him and massage his ears. However, as many dog owners can attest, canines often have an ulterior motive, especially when food is involved.

Yet, Homer demonstrates admirable self-restraint. Despite seeming on the verge of swiping something off the plate, he never actually does. Instead, he settles for a cuddle party, which, let’s be honest, isn’t a bad trade-off.

“He knows better than to do it while we are eating,” the owner explained. “But if we leave the plate in the room alone, then it’s free game.”
