Although this isn’t the first ice cream-adoring dog on TikTok—with prior videos of golden retrievers enjoying their frozen desserts—it’s essential to be cautious about feeding dogs with human ice cream.

Catrin George from Animal Friends Pet Insurance warned Newsweek about the dangers, stating that dairy products could be problematic for dogs.

They lack the necessary enzyme to digest lactose, which may lead to digestive troubles, from stomach pain to more severe symptoms. Ice cream’s high sugar, fat, and calorie content can also contribute to other health problems.

Nevertheless, dog owners need not despair. There are safer ice cream alternatives, from frozen fruit slices to specially formulated doggy ice creams.

So, while our canine friends might enjoy the experience, it’s crucial to ensure that their health isn’t compromised.
