A ragdoll cat’s amusing post-neutering state has brought joy and laughter to the internet.

The video, shared by Issy Hawkins on Instagram, has been viewed more than 600,000 times since January 27th.

Hawkins told her followers, “I had my ragdoll cat neutered today and the vet, like they do with all cats, said he might be a bit drowsy for the rest of the day.”

The video shows the cat sitting on the floor, staring wide-eyed at a bookcase in a trance-like state, completely ignoring his owner’s commands.

Hawkins jokingly commented, “I don’t know what’s happened to mine but he seems to be tripping,” and asked her pet, “Are you OK?”

She added, “He’s been staring at this spot for the last hour. Nothing about this cat is normal.”

Issy Hawkins is an actor, mental health and sobriety advocate, and content creator based in the UK. She has been sober for nine years and provides supportive content online for others who have faced similar challenges.

According to VCA Animal Hospitals, neutering is a surgical procedure that removes both testicles to sterilize a male cat.

This not only prevents unwanted pregnancies but also curbs undesirable behaviors associated with sexual maturity and reduces the risk of serious illness from diseases like feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV).

The Instagram post has received over 50,000 likes and more than 400 comments. Users have been sharing their humorous takes on the viral moment, with one joking, “Mum, I can taste the colors,” and another adding, “He’s seen the Gods.”

Hawkins later shared that she has “since learned that they sometimes give them ketamine for neutering.”
