Quick Smiles:

  • The SPCA shelter in Adams County, Pennsylvania, had an early Christmas surprise – all their furry friends found new homes!
  • For the first time in its 47-year history, the shelter was completely empty on Christmas Day.
  • This year alone, the shelter has found loving homes for 598 animals and reunited 125 strays with their owners.

It was a Christmas miracle like no other at the SPCA shelter in Adams County, Pennsylvania. Just two days before the big day, every last doggy and kitty had found a new family to call their own. The result? An empty shelter on Christmas Day for the first time in 47 years. Now, that’s what we call a festive win!

The staff couldn’t contain their excitement, and why should they? They’d just achieved something pretty amazing.

As they put it on their Facebook page, “To say that we are beyond excited is an understatement! The staff and volunteers have worked VERY hard to take care of the animals in our care and to make sure they got adopted to the right home!”

And this wasn’t a one-off thing. This year alone, the shelter has waved goodbye to 598 animals who trotted off to their new homes, and helped 125 strays find their way back to their worried owners. Talk about a busy year!

But the good news doesn’t stop there. This win isn’t just for the lucky dogs and cats who got to spend Christmas snuggled up with their new families. It’s also a win for the other animals in overcrowded shelters and kennels in the area. With their kennels now empty, the Adams County SPCA can take in more animals, giving them a better chance of finding a new home.

“We will be pulling animals from other shelters in PA next week in hopes of relieving some of their stress,” the Adams County SPCA shared in a Facebook post. “Right now, we are going to enjoy this accomplishment! Merry Christmas!”

So, go ahead and share this pawsome news with your friends. It’s the kind of story that’ll put a smile on anyone’s face!
