People Keep Mistaking this Unique-Looking Dog for a Pig

Published

  • Ted is certainly a dog with a unique, unusual look.
  • Because of his near-hairless body and little tail, he’s almost always mistaken for a pig whenever he’s out for a walk.
  • He and his mom don’t mind it though — he loves the attention and his mom loves him just the way he is.

Ted is one unique-looking dog. He was almost hairless when his mom, Devan Seaman, adopted him. Even when he started growing more fur, his looks didn’t resemble the usual dog — and passersby even mistake him for a pig!

Ted’s look was so unique that Devan had to get a DNA test. She shared how the rescue thought he was a Chinese crested mix, but she was confused when he started growing fur.

Through the test, Devan found out that “he’s mostly Chihuahua and mini poodle, with a small percentage of shih tzu, and an even smaller percentage of a smattering of other breed groups!”

Other people get even more confused whenever they see Ted out and about.

Devan told The Dodo that passersby always ask about his breed, while some comment about how his eyes look like a human’s. She added that most look “delighted” by his strange but adorable look.

One particular encounter became memorable for Devan, however. She and Ted were out for a walk when a man struck up a conversation about how Ted reminded him of his childhood.

Eventually, Devan realized that the man thought her dog was a pig!

She shared how she decided not to correct him since he was so excited to see a “pig.”

Devan added that it was a common mistake, after all: “Ted honestly gets mistaken for a pig almost every day.”

She shared how most people’s first guess is a pig and almost never a dog — perhaps because of his little tail.

Some people even think “he looks like a pig, a possum, a werewolf, a lion, or a wizard,” Devan shared, before eventually asking, “Is that a dog?”

Ted most likely doesn’t realize he’s being mistaken for something else, and particularly loves the attention he gets. He simply loves people so much that his favorite activity is people-watching.
